Russia and North Korea Sign New Pact


During Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang this week, he and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a new comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. Key points about this pact:


  • It includes provisions for mutual defense assistance, requiring the countries to provide immediate military aid to each other in the event of an attack or war.[3][4][5]


  • Article 4 specifically states that if one country is invaded, the other must deploy "all means at its disposal without delay" to provide military and other assistance.[5]


  • It formalizes enhanced military cooperation and diplomatic ties between Russia and North Korea.[3][4]
